Author and Historian
Will Hutchison has been writing all his adult life, but mostly for Uncle Sam. This included criminal investigation case reports, lesson plans, drug threat assessments, budgets, annual reports, reports for the US Congress on drug abuse in the military, etc. – never under his own name for publication. When he retired from public service in 2003, Will swore he would never write again. This commitment did not last long. Will found quickly that he missed writing, but this time it would be for himself, not the Government.
In addition to working for the Government, Will has studied and taught mid-19th century military history as far back as he can recall. In deciding to write for himself, it was a logical extension to combine his passion for history with his desire to write.
Since retiring he has written and published three historical novels, The Ian Carlisle Series, covering the Crimean War, the American Civil War, and the Indian Wars period in the American west and Canada. He has also completed two non-fiction historical photographic works, one on surviving artifacts of the Crimean War, and the other on surviving artifacts of the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
